Around what time did people start lifting their trucks?

I perpetually search for news regarding new information on lifts. Here is an important question that we expect you would find entertaining.

Question by LtheprodigyH: Around what time did people start lifting their trucks?
When did jacked up trucks first come around and is it known where the first jacked up truck popped up?

Best answer:

Answer by Damocles
This started becoming popular in the early 1980's.

I don't think that it would be possible to track down the first one of these. I suspect the first ones appeared in the 1950's, because a given terrain required additional ground clearance to get over obstacles. As far as the whole "Monster Truck" thing goes, it started out as a side show at various "hot rod" type car shows, like "World Of Wheels".

I currently own an 86' Toyota Tacoma and plan on doing a lift on it, but I don't really know where to go or how to search this. Appreciate the help and thanks!

just go on google......

but based on the age of the truck you have leaf springs on all four wheels. these are by far the easiest and cheapest things to do lifts on. there are blocks you can get for lifts and after market leafs. loook at companies like skyjacker, fabtech,

Why is my truck getting such bad gas mileage?

I perpetually hunt for news regarding new information on forklift. Here is an important question that we thought you would find informative.

Question by Andy: Why is my truck getting such bad gas mileage?
I have a 97 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 and an automatic. It doesn't have big tires or a lift, exhaust and everything is factory, this is a total plain ol "grandpa truck." It has new plugs and wires, but it averages about 9 mpg. I do mostly city driving, and I don't ever hammer on it. I drive like a grandma. Now I know trucks aren't made to get good gas mileage, but 9 is a little ridiculous. It's only got 143k miles on it. What else could I change/replace that would help?

If you plan to trail ride and air them down they will rub before the steering locks. I know a guy who has a 6" lift and runs 33" tires and he comes close to the wheel wells, but doesn't rub at full lock.

is over thinking bad for your health/depression?

We forever work information regarding new information on lift trucks. Here is an important question that we thought you would find interesting.

Question by Anthony: is over thinking bad for your health/depression?
I have had some major depression over the past years, i havnt done anything about it and now my thoughts race like i have whole entire thought cycles complete themselves in a matter of seconds. it hurts my brain and i cant stop thinking every time i look at the mountains i think of everything that could go on from the trees to things that are very very unlikely (like the sun turning blue and vaporizing everything from a super nova lol) i just wish things would go back to normal but i think of everything my eyes and mind generalize and even what i cant explain i put out what seems like millions of thoughts a day, i retain almost all the information given to me and i just cant stop thinking until i go to sleep. it literally sends me through high anxiety and huge break downs. the only way to stop it is to go to sleep or idk lobotomization , i feel like a number, a machine of thought not an intelligent being just an intelligent information storage more of that of an artificial intelligence. my depression however doesnt seem to grow, i just feel like ive hit rock bottom for years but it doesnt seem to make me do anything but think. most people call it the "garbage truck" when it comes to depression but 1 everything just gets worse (like an actual series of unfortunate events) and 2 it is said to come and go but this is (about) the third year its been here and its really starting to get to me, although my mind is clear it is full of random thoughts, and calculated outcomes (done by thought that is). does this happen to any one else or am i just stuck in thought generalizations for as long as i live?

Best answer:

Answer by Yesenia Y.
i do it too your not alone ive been depressed for years... except i dont call it depression i call it life im so sick of people thinking a pill will solve everything. IT WONT all it does is make teens suicidal. anyway my life isnt that bad but bad sitiations arised alot these past 3 years and the only cure ive noticed is a hobby or somthing you like to occupy your mind or in our case to relax our minds... also the best cure for sadness is falling in love... go out meet new people fall in love live your life man... i saw a survey that said the number one thing elders wish they had done when they were younger was to take more risks and dare to live !

i have a 91 toyota 4x4 im wanting about 5 inches of lift?

We endlessly search for news regarding new information on forklifts. Here is an important question that we believe you would find compelling.

Question by adam: i have a 91 toyota 4x4 im wanting about 5 inches of lift?
could i put both a leveling kit and a body lift on the truck i have a 4.3 and need a body lift to get it to fit in the truck
I'm doing a 4.3 motor swap and I need a body lift for the engine to fit but I'm wanting more than 2 to 3 inches of body lift, can I add ball joint spacers on top of a body lift

Best answer:

Answer by Holey Mufflers
you can put both a suspension and body lift on most anything. including this platform.

respectfully,
but it's unclear to me what you have now. leveling kits on this are like 2-3" at best. otherwise, with IFS, to exceed that, there would be front binding issues. you'd need drop brackets fo front pinion angles and steering gear. and a super structure to support it. that's broaching on a lift kit. this is IFS not SAS.

and suspension kits don't come in .3" increments.

"get it to fit in the truck" what's "it". and what radius are you trying to fit under there?

4" suspension lift will allow 33" R under there. the up and down travel is greater than the lower fender clearance, front to rear, at the front wells. you could shave/roll the lower front fender well corners to get maybe 35"'s over all.
in back, there are no clearance issues.
-----------
EDIT,
*now* i know you're doing a 4.3 engine swap. sorry. little slow.
spacers on sprung susension parts won't have an effect on raising the body away from the frame. will not increase engine bay size.

this is a common swap, take a gander at this,

Question by Joseph: Have a 34 volt reach truck putting away 300 to 400 pallets away a week + rotating stock is it over worked?
I have a 24 volt crown reach truck rr 5200 series and I've had nothing but problems with this p.o.s I v been told it was only built to run three to four hours a day and I'm running it six to eight hours every day putting 300 to 400 pallets away every week plus it's rotating stock in our 3 bay high rack and pushing 4 to 8 pallets 30 feet at a time to make room for more inventory and used to pull shipments for customers in a 55,000 sq ft warehouse I've replaced the battery 3 time and cell 8 and cell 9 one time the truck is only at 5,003 hours I did find one of the times the charger was 850 AH and the battery was at 1,000 AH then we just got a brand new 850 AH battery and it only runs for 4 hours. Am I working my crown 24 volt?

what is the heavy-est thing or load you pulled with a 4x4 truck?what is the max wait a ford f350 can pull?i have a 5 wheel 7x50 foot trailer 6 foot high rail's?i load about 250 or more full size trees in my trailer and it ways most of the time fully loaded at 80,000 pounds or more?i use a semi truck now to pull it.i own the trailer but not the semi?is there any 4x4 trucks out there that will hual my trailer?like a ford f350 or even a ford f650 ?is it a crazy idea to hual a trailer that heavy or big with a 4x4 truck?and how do i hook up the trailer brakes to a 4x4 truck.the trailer bracks are air?i know i sound crazy but i want to buy a brand new 4x4 truck to hual my trailer fully loaded not a semi truck.i also load and un load my trailer its a lot of work.i work for a land clearing and tree farm comp.i'm not that smart but i work very very hard?

Best answer:

Answer by daddytrucker4696
it would be completely illegal to pull a load like that with anything less than a class 8 truck , an F350 is registered to pull up to 25,999 lbs and that includes the weight of the truck and trailer , however i have seen people i know hauling hay with trucks like that weighing over 50,000 lbs with no problems as long as you don't get caught . As far as hooking air brakes on a truck like that it is possible but would very expensive and you would be better off to stick with the semi trucks or buy a different trailer and carry lighter loads

Question: Lifting and buying tires for a Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 2012?

I forever search for intelligence regarding new information on forklifts. Here is an important question that I expect you would find amusing.

Question by Arboc Commander: Lifting and buying tires for a Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 2012?
I recently bought a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 quad cab (4 complete doors) I am new to the lifting and big tires game. I used to drive a chevy silverado (2000 1500 2wd) so all i did was put a custom box and two 10'' subwoofers. But now, I want my truck to be a man's truck. I want to lift it up and put bigger tires but I don't know where to start with how high my lift should be and what is a reasonable size and any other parts I would need to pull this off. All help is good help. Thank you!!!!

Best answer:

Answer by RAWR
Personally, I don't think Dodge Rams look good lifted. The way they're shaped just makes it look kind of awkward when they have the big tires and suspension, but I've seen a few good looking ones, so do what you will.

Just go to a shop that does it and hire them to do it. Go somewhere with a good rep, like 4 Wheel Parts, you don't want someone doing it for cheap, it'll fuck up your truck. And if your new to the business, don't do it yourself please. All you do is order a lift kit, (pro comp, fabtech, and tuff country, are all good brands) they should come with all the parts necessary. Then you need to buy new tires and wheels to go with it.

The lift kit in itself usually isn't all that expensive. The new wheels and tires are what's gonna cost ya. The lift kit, tires, wheels, and labor costs for my truck came to right about $ 6,000.

As far as what to get, that's up to you. Here's my opinion. DO NOT go over a ten inch lift, it looks stupid, makes you look like your overcompensating, and will fuck up your truck in the long run. DO NOT get a body lift, it will also fuck up your truck. DO get a suspension lift, that's the right way to go. And DO get six inch lift if your looking to make your truck look cool without hindering performance all too much.

As for tire and wheel size: 20x10 inch rims look good on any lift, if your going with a 6 inch suspension, get 35 inch tires, 8 inch suspension: 37 inch tires, 10 inch suspension: 38 inch to 40 inch tires. Any more than that, and be prepared for everyone to make jokes about your penis size

how are cranberries harvested?

We endlessly hunt for intelligence regarding new information on fork trucks. Here is an important question that we thought you would find entertaining.

Question by ALESANA: how are cranberries harvested?
why is it in water?

Best answer:

Answer by ANGEL
Today's growers use two methods for harvesting: wet harvesting and dry harvesting. Cranberries were first harvested by hand, later, pickers used wooden scoops to comb through the vines and lift off the berries.

In the wet harvesting method ...which is the most common method..."The grower floods the usually dry bog with up to eighteen inches of water. The next day, water reels are used to stir up water in the bogs. The cranberries are loosened from the vines and float to the surface of the water. They are corralled and loaded into trucks."

The wet method helps separate the good cranberries from the bad:
" Cranberries have pockets of air inside them that make them float and bounce. If a cranberry is damaged or spoiled, it will not bounce."

http://www.teachervision.fen.com/foods/resource/3407.html

In Massassachusetts approximately 90 percent of the crop is harvested the wet harvest way... by flooding:

Fresh cranberries can also be harvested by the dry method which uses a mechanical picker to comb the berries off the vine with moving metal teeth.
In modern machines, a conveyor belt carries the berries to a receptacle at the back of the machine.

Machines like this have been (& may still be) used to comb the fruits from the plants:

Question: Please read this small chunk of my novel?

I endlessly on the look out for news regarding new information on fork trucks. Here is an important question that I expect you would find compelling.

Question by Tayla: Please read this small chunk of my novel?
This a small chunk of my story. I really need to go back and the edit the beginning of my story so I chose a section on the 35th page for you's to read since my writing is better here. There will be mistakes as the is un edited. Violet is the main character, Lincoln is her best and only friend and Delano is quite an evil character. I really appreciate any advice you can give me. Was this hard for you to read, did you struggle to continue reading? How can I make my writing better?

I got up and walked to my bedroom. I had a lot to think about. It felt like my brain was jumping up and down in my skull trying to escape this mess. I couldn't get the nightmare about Lincoln out of my head. What if Delano has him help captive? I heard gran gently knock on my door.

"Come in".

"I brought you some special herbal tea to help with your nightmares".

"Thanks gran".

I grabbed the cup of tea. It's boiling hot, it's a greenish colour and stinks like she dunked a skunk in it! I scrunched my nose up at the tea.

"Drink up" said gran.

I took a sip of the tea and sprayed it everywhere.

"No offense gran but this tastes just as worse as it smells! What did you put in it"?

"It's best if you don't know. Make sure you drink it all, you have a big day training tomorrow".

"Training? What training"!

"Night sweety" gran said smiling.

It took me a while but I managed to drink every last drop. This better work, I don't want to face anymore nightmares. It's so good to sleep on a bed again. It feels like a soft fluffy cloud. I quickly drifted off into a deep sleep.

'Lincolns lifeless body was still chained to the stone wall. A puddle of his own blood surrounded him. I stood their crying. Delano stood behind me laughing. All of a sudden Lincoln lifted his head and started at me with his gorgeous green eyes.
"Why didn't you help me Violet"?
"I tried to Lincoln! I couldn't move my legs".
"It's your fault I'm dead".
Delano whispered in my ear "Murderer".
"NO" I screamed!
"YES" Delano yelled!
I turned around to punch him but I wasn't fast enough and he grabbed my arm and twisted it. He then pushed me to the ground so I was kneeling.
"Beg for mercy"!
"Never"!
Delano laughed pitifully and called Lincoln over. Lincoln ripped off the chains and kneeled in front of me so we were eye level. Delano handed him a knife. He moved his lips close to mine and whispered "why didn't you love me"? He then stabbed the knife into my heart. A tear trickled down his face. Everything went black as I drew my last breath.'

I suddenly woke up gasping for air. The tea did nothing! I slowly sat up and rubbed my eyes. When will the nightmares leave me alone?
"Violet...Violet are you okay, what happend" gran asked panting?

"Nothing I just had a nightmare, why are you panting".

"I heard you scream, so I came here as quick as I could. I'm sorry the tea didn't help love. Why don't you take a shower and I will get breakfast ready for you".

"What time is it"?

"5:00am, now go and have a warm shower".

I slowly got out of bed and grabbed the clothes gran had neatly folded up on my dresser. A warm shower is just what I needed. I looked down at all my scars. I may be free from father but he has left is marks on me for eternity. It feels so nice to be clean again. I walked into the kitchen. I could hear bacon crackling on the frypan. My stomach growled demanding food.i took a seat at the kitchen table.

"You poor thing. You look like you have been hit by a truck".

"Make that ten trucks".

Grandma served me a plate full of bacon and eggs. Saliva dripped from my mouth. I shoved as much bacon and eggs I could fit into my mouth. Grandma slapped me hard across the head.

"Violet! I know you are a hungry growing werewolf but there is no need to eat like that"!

"Sorry" I said with a mouthful of bacon.

Grandma gave me a disapproving look and handed me a knife and fork. I quickly piled bacon onto the fork and shoved it in my mouth. I haven't eaten anything decent in a few days now, the scraps I found in the forest weren't exactly appetising.

"Ahem" gran coughed.

"Sorry gran".

I cut up a human bite sized piece of bacon and chewed it slowly.

"Better" gran said smiling.

Question by lift&shift 101: Can you HONESTLY tell me what you think this vehicle might be worth and how much should i sell it for?
It is a 1987 GMC V1500 pickup 4x4.I has a brand new stock 350 tbi engine and new 700r4 tranny and 208 transfer case.It has a new Eaton rear differential and new exhaust..It also has a new 4" suspension lift and new 3" body lift running brand new 35" tires.EVERYTHING under the hood is new including cooling/heating and electronics.New throttle body and fuel pump.Interior is in fair shape with electric windows and locks. The engine&tranny only have 4000 miles on it.The truck is still in fair shape. No big body problems, some rust holes and surface rust.If the body was redone,it would be a new truck.Floorboards and bed is super strong yet.Runs excellent. How much should i honestly ask for this vehicle?I have dumped my heart and soul into it but i know that doesnt account for anything.Any opinions would be appreciated.Thanks.
A "bluebook" value isnt gonna help.I'm sure its gonna say the truck is worth about $ 500.Bluebooks do not see all the extras you put in a vehicle!!
Also,my avatar does NOT show the vehicle that i am selling! Not even close to it.

What are ottawa yard trucks used for?

We forever strive intelligence regarding new information on lifts. Here is an important question that I expect you would find intriguing.

Question by Mike: What are ottawa yard trucks used for?
At my job, the Yardmen use "yard trucks" instead of tractors in the yard. Is there a reason why they use "yard trucks" instead of tractors?

Best answer:

Answer by fire4511
Yard trucks are designed for easy hookup, and unhooking. Some even have hydraulic lifts on the fifth wheel so that the front trailer legs do not have to be cranked up and down. The trailer front is lifted to be moved.

Many yard truck also have a door in the back of the cab, so that the air lines can be easily attached.

Can anyone give me realistic information about camping in the Adirondacks?

We endlessly search for details regarding new information on forklifts. Here is an important question that I thought you would find thought-provoking.

Question by markwnjr: Can anyone give me realistic information about camping in the Adirondacks?
I've done a tiring amount of research about the Adirondack's and how you can fish and camp and blah blah blah. Well I've done plenty of camping, but this is my first time in charge of planning.

What I'm looking to do is take my truck "Off-Road" as I just lifted it and kind put nice tires on it. Anyways, I mainly want to figure out where I can camp? Do I need to make reservations? Does it cost anything? Does it depend on where I am? Can I just camp...wherever?

We want to fish... and definitely camp near a pond or something. We want to try and eat what we catch too..

Internet is telling me nothing. Can anyone give me any information please? We want a secluded area to camp... meaning no one else around to bother us... we want to fish.. we'll be using old fashioned tents.

Best answer:

Answer by chris w
There are two types of camping, with a car or on foot. With a car it matters not where you camp as you can bring what ever, how ever. On foot your limited to what you can carry. There are two types of campgrounds, those that are developed and could have all the accouterments you would want and the others are primitive simple clearings where you could lay down and sleep.

Developed campgrounds cater to the car camper and popular ones either get filled fast or are reserved six months in advance and always cost money anywhere from $ 10 to a $ 110+ depending on seasons and accouterments. Primitive sites you either hike too or discover by car on some lonely forest road and you cannot reserve these and generally are free or the cost of a parking fee $ 5 a day $ 30 a year.

All can be found in your local national parks, forests, state and county parks.
http://woodalls.com/ lists all the developed campgrounds that exist

To find primitive sites that is discovery and up to you and your ability to see and read a map

Why do men say these things to me?

We endlessly strive details regarding new information on fork trucks. Here is an important question that I believe you would find compelling.

Question by peace: Why do men say these things to me?
To be honest, I mind my own business. I would describe myself as shy at first and friendly once I get to know you. So why, after a few months of casual conversation, would a man say "aggressive" things to me? One man has said, "I could throw you through that window" and "I saw you running and wanted to hit you with my truck" and "i could lift three times your body weight." Thought it was just one strange guy, but today another guy (who is usually friendly) rolled down the window to his car and told me to "lay down in front of it." Honestly, I mind my own business. They play it off as a joke, but where is this "anger" towards me coming from?

Question by jared: what type of truck is good for me?
i am going to be going into either welding or building trades in the next few months and i hunt fish drive dirt bikes i want something that doesn't cost that much but will haul stuff and have room for friends. i might lift it and i want it to be a used truck.

Best answer:

Answer by Garrett
It really depends on your personal taste. I know many people will scoff at the idea, but Toyota Tundras and Tacomas are very fine trucks. Extremely reliable, and powerful. Chevy also makes a good truck. I'm guessing you will be hauling stuff around a lot so I would find which truck produces the most low end torque and that gives you good features and is a good truck for going offroad. Also, if adding on to your truck is your kind of thing, some manufacturers will offer aftermarket parts for their vehicles. I know that Toyota used to offer a supercharger for their trucks that was covered under warranty, if you wanted more oomph for "towing" ;) not sure if they still do but you could check. Like I said though, it really comes down to personal taste. From what I know, the Tundra and Ram have the highest low end torque figures. Horsepower is not nearly as important to trucks. "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races" or in your case tows the weight.

Why don't ambulance services use the H- Frame style cot anymore?

We perpetually hunt for details regarding new information on forklifts. Here is an important question that I expect you would find informative.

by Helico

Question by Riley: Why don't ambulance services use the H- Frame style cot anymore?
I am a junior EMT on our local volunteer ambulance service and I could never get an answer anybody, even the ambulance director herself. We used the EZPRO R-3 Rugged model from Stryker but she told me we just switched to X- Frame because it was what the city decided to buy.

Best answer:

Answer by Jim B
I spent 13 years working for Metropolitan Toronto Ambulance Services , the largest EMS service in Canada, with over 800 paramedics on staff. It is the only EMS service in Toronto, and it is a city department, with 40 stations.

The biggest reason that we got rid of the old Stryker cots was the need to do a "dead lift ", from the ground , to get it to the floor level of the vehicle. A killer when the pt is 400 pounds.

The old units did not have the ability to "roll into the truck, " like the new ones do, with folding legs. The old ones were back breakers, and that was one of the reasons that I had to quit and go into other lines of work.

My career was from 1977 to 1990 , so the equipment has changed, of course, but those old units were hard to work with, and the side bars were famous for catching the skin web on your hand, between the thumb and index finger. Kinda smarts, when that happens.( grin )

Here is a link to the Toronto EMS website, take a look and see how we do it up here in Canada's largest city with a population of 4 million people, and 1,300 emergency medical calls per day.

Question: Can someone critique this for me?

I forever search for intelligence regarding new information on forklifts. Here is an important question that we anticipate you would find informative.

Question by Jake (AKA Captain Crash): Can someone critique this for me?
This is my writing exercise today- just an intense, short paragraph that doesn't really have much context besides what it provides itself. It's supposed to be a fast, action-packed part of a longer story. I just want someone to give me a few pointers.

Phil stood with his back against the wall, nervously holding the .22 and staring towards the opposite side of the dusty motel room. He knew that it would all end in just a few moments, and he was fine with that. No life at all would be better than a life in hiding. He had been on the run for two years. Ever since the infection. He had always figured that he would get eaten alive by one of the zombies. Nope. He wasn't even that lucky. He was about to get gored by a forklift. It revved again, louder this time. There wasn't much he could do at that point. He was down to his last two bullets. A light suddenly shined through the dirty window, and he could hear the tires of the forklift spinning on the pavement of the parking lot. It didn't have to go too fast. It's sheer weight would bring the already crumbling wall down. Locking the door at all was just a joke. That door wouldn't keep anything out. Not even the wind. It was hot and dry against his back, blowing through the holes in his shirt where he got hung up on the fence earlier. Then he saw it- not a window, but a small hole in the back wall towards the ceiling. One of those mounting holes for an air conditioner. He stepped up onto the small desk below it and squirmed out through it just as the other wall disintegrated and the forklift plowed through. As he toppled out onto the grass, he heard Luke's AK-47 firing into the empty room.

He was home free. Or so he thought. He picked himself up off the grass, preparing to run off- put as much distance between Luke and himself as possible- but instead of freedom in front of him, there were zombies. Lots of zombies.

Best answer:

Answer by ~MogMog~
Eh. Well.

It doesn't really do much for me. It's not terribly written. Just very bland, not at all interesting, and pretty typical. In short, there's just nothing special about it. There's also a lot of extraneous material that could be excised . . . this is definitely a case of overwriting. And even though it's only a paragraph, and not part of a larger work, you could do a lot more with that large amount of words than you actually did.

Question: 1st time boat purchaser - new boat or "gently used" boat w/ warranty?"?

I continuously strive intelligence regarding new information on forklift. Here is an important question that I anticipate you would find thought-provoking.

Question by Alan H: 1st time boat purchaser - new boat or "gently used" boat w/ warranty?"?
I've heard two lines of thought when it comes to 1st time boat purchasers - whether to buy a brand new boat (from a dealer) or whether to buy a late model used boat w/ a transferrable warranty (from a private party).

The reasoning behind a brand new boat is of course, peace of mind. I'm going into this hobby at 38 yrs old and I have no misconceptions that this can be an extremely expensive hobby.

My budget is around $ 18,000 (for lic., ins., dealer fees [if applicable], and misc. other fees).

Also, I am familiar with Bayliner and Searay, and most recently, Four Winns (these are nice boats!). We are a familiy of 5; with my sister and her kids (we each have 3 - all of them are now at the watersports age) a mile away. I've done exhaustive technical research but I've not done any of the most important research - the public.

What is good first boat? I'm looking for a bowrider, i/o (about 175 hp), 18' or bigger.

Thanks to all in advance.

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to take pictures, an equatorial mount if crucial. On the other hand, an alt-az in the form of a dobsonian mount allows larger telescopes, so more will be seen visually. The simplicity of alt-az mounts is usually better for beginners. But an equatorial mount allows a simpler methood of keeping an object in view.

Toddler just started saying swear words what do i do?

We perpetually work news regarding new information on fork trucks. Here is an important question that I thought you would find entertaining.

Question by angelle: Toddler just started saying swear words what do i do?
My almost 2 year old daughter is learning how to talk, she knows alot of words and can understand what we say to her and respond quite well...however sometimes when she says something it comes out as something different which i know is normal. A few days ago I had thought that I heard her say a swear word, but I wasn't sure as like i said sometimes words come out and they sound different, so i let it go...then that same day I heard her clearly say something that I know was a swear word. We don't swear around her and we don't watch or listen to anything that has swear words because we know kids pick it up like nothing, so I have no idea how she started saying it. I'm worried because I don't want her to be one of those kids that swear what can I do? I havent made a big deal cause i know if you do they tend to want to say it more, but I can't just ignore it. I have tried to replace it with a similar sounding word so that she just says that but that doesn't seem to be working, what can i do?

Best answer:

Answer by DenJansen
You're on the right track. Don't make a big deal of it. If she can understand what you're saying, then tell her, straightforward "We don't use that word, say 'shoot' instead. Or 'darnit'," something like that. If she doesn't figure it out, I wouldn't worry too much: in a few more months, she'll understand what's okay and what's not.

Question by *maddy*: Opinions on plus-size modeling?
I'm not looking for goody-goody answers like, "Everyone is beautiful!" or cruel ones like, "They are soooo fat!"

I really want to hear some honest, thought-out answers. Does the contraversy in that industry stem from jealousy? Anger? Repulsion? Discrimination? Different values? Politics?

Polite and truthful answers are greatly appreciated!
unithoRn--great point. I too wish that it could just be called modeling. In fact, I wasn't really aware of the segregation in the industry until recently when I stumbled upon a article about some model who was a size 10 and being called fat. This really made me wonder. I mean, what's going on with people when they think a size 10 is fat.

I for one usually fit into a size 14, but don't look overweight because I'm nearly 6 feet tall and am healthy, toned. And to hear those kinds of accusations just shocked me! Oh well...those kinds of physical and materialistic things have never mattered to me, and never will. I'm just waiting for the day when people can be see for their inner beauty!

I repeatedly hunt for intelligence regarding new information on forklifts. Here is an important question that I anticipate you would find amusing.

Question by misspts123: Does anyone know of a company that has curtain side trailer? Please advise...?
The side of the trailer roll up like a curtain. PLEASE HELP!!! I need a truck for two weeks starting on July 9, 2006. My company needs it for a customer. PLEASE advise I search all over. These vehicles usually transport lumber.
This is for a 2 week period from Windsor Locks, CT to Long Island, NY.

Starting July 9th, 2006.
I need a trucking company with a driver who can pick up material in Windsor Locks, CT & deliver to Long Island, NY. I need someone who has a curtain side truck. PLEASE HELP!!!
Thank you!!!!

Best answer:

Answer by Deuzer from Michigan
In the Midwest, curtain-side trailers typically feature a soft material that slides along a rigid frame that roughly outlines the box shape of the more common van style freight trailers. The more advanced models have sliding side supports, to accomodate the loading and unloading of various sizes of freight.

They typically carry a wheeled forklift "donkey," or "piggyback" on the back of the trailer, which is used for unloading. These trailers, then, do not require a truck dock for loading or unloading, making them very practical for getting into otherwise difficult delivery destinations.

Ours was custom-built in Haslett, Michigan (near Lansing), by Sliding Systems (517-339-1455) www.slidingsystems.com. They did a great job and would be good folks to talk to about your particular requirements. Good luck!

Hi guys. I know I'm going to regret doing this but would you please critique my QH gelding and I? I've had him for about 4 months and before this we was a pasture pet, so I'm proud of how far he's come. I also show him english and jump with him, so I don't expect him to be perfect at everything haha.
Anyways here he is!
PLEASE don't judge my eq. in the indoor video, it was horrid and I just wasn't even thinking about me. In the outside video, go ahead :) That is our horsemanship pattern for our fair this coming week.
Please critique but try not to be rude? I understand we are not perfect and that's not what I'm asking for someone to tell me, I'm looking for helpful advice. We show locally and do our fair but thats it, I don't plan on taking him to the AQHA World Show lol

Thank you so much that really helped! And yeah I've noticed the tail wringing thing! He does get seen by a chirporacter and was actually just adjusted a few days ago.
I'm thinking its my saddle..he doesn't do it in any of the videos I have of riding him English. SAddle doesn't fit me anyways, so I guess we'll be selling that one!

There are a few different things that we look for in WP, such as consistency (probably the biggest one!), obedience (lack of mouthing at bit, no tail wringing), balance, impulsion, and movement. Your horse is fairly consistent and maintains his speed and movement pretty well. I like seeing the length of rein that you ride him on. It is not ridiculously long, but it proves to me that he is obedient. He is also pretty balanced, and I like seeing how level his topline is and the slight arc to his neck. His movement looks comfortable, and his back is nice and rounded. Your horse also has great impulsion, and I like seeing him reach under himself, especially at the lope because some horses tend to loose their impulsion when asked to slow a bit. As for movement, his gaits are true, and so long as your horse performs this nicely at a show, you could definitely go into an arena at most local/open shows and be proud of your performance.

You've nailed the basics, there are just a few things you could work on to improve your western pleasure. One thing that I noticed is that your horse wrings his tail A LOT. I don't know if there's something that he doesn't like about his bit or saddle fit, perhaps that is something you may want to look into. Or, he might just benefit tremendously from a visit from the chiropractor.

I would also like to see your horse become just a bit more responsive to your cues, particularly at the lope, when he seems to tune you out a bit. What I do with my horse to achieve this is every couple of rides, I put my horse in a medium-width, jointed, O-ring snaffle and (reasonably) loose training fork. I would start out with two hands, keeping your reins tight enough so that you can direct rein easily if needed, but loose enough to allow the bit to leave him alone when he is doing what you want. This is your time to go back to basics. YOUR HANDS ARE ALLOWED TO DO VERY, VERY LITTLE HERE. For example, if you want him to whoa, say whoa and sit back in your saddle. If he doesn't stop within 2 strides, back him up quickly. When you get a nice, prompt stop, let him stand and rest for him a bit, and give him a pat. The same goes for backing. I would like you to see your horse maintain his frame more as he backs. So once you start backing, keep backing until he breaks at the poll and rounds his back. This idea of going back to basics and rewarding immediately goes for cuing and turning at all three gaits, stopping, backing, collecting/tucking his head, neck reining, and direct reining.

While your horse has nice movement, you will be more competitive if you get him to slow down more and come back to you when he gets strong. The following video does a nice job explaining how to do this. This can be practiced with both walk, jog, and lope.

Your horsemanship is, for the most part, good. Make sure you work on really engaging your core and back and sitting deep in your saddle. However, your horse does have a lot of "lift" to his gaits, so I understand that this can be difficult. My only other big critique is to keep your legs back, especially at the back. Your heels should line up with your hips and shoulders if I drew a line perpendicular to the ground passing through all three. If you lower your stirrups a bit, you might find that your legs will naturally move underneath you. When you back, you have a tendency to lean too far back, move your legs forward, and do a little squirming motion. Teaching your horse (and yourself) to back with better position will increase your horsemanship score.

As for the pattern, really work on keeping your circles even and your lines straight. I would also like to remind you that all cones are in alignment at the shoulder unless stated otherwise. This means that if your pattern says "Jog at C", you horse is taking his first jogging stride when his shoulder lines up with the cone. This may mean that you need to cue a bit earlier, perhaps a stride or two before your cone.

That is really all the advice I can offer. I want to assure you that you look really nice, especially for only having worked with your horse for only 4 months. Good luck!
