Why don't ambulance services use the H- Frame style cot anymore?

We perpetually hunt for details regarding new information on forklifts. Here is an important question that I expect you would find informative.

Question by Riley: Why don't ambulance services use the H- Frame style cot anymore?
I am a junior EMT on our local volunteer ambulance service and I could never get an answer anybody, even the ambulance director herself. We used the EZPRO R-3 Rugged model from Stryker but she told me we just switched to X- Frame because it was what the city decided to buy.

I spent 13 years working for Metropolitan Toronto Ambulance Services , the largest EMS service in Canada, with over 800 paramedics on staff. It is the only EMS service in Toronto, and it is a city department, with 40 stations.

The biggest reason that we got rid of the old Stryker cots was the need to do a "dead lift ", from the ground , to get it to the floor level of the vehicle. A killer when the pt is 400 pounds.

The old units did not have the ability to "roll into the truck, " like the new ones do, with folding legs. The old ones were back breakers, and that was one of the reasons that I had to quit and go into other lines of work.

My career was from 1977 to 1990 , so the equipment has changed, of course, but those old units were hard to work with, and the side bars were famous for catching the skin web on your hand, between the thumb and index finger. Kinda smarts, when that happens.( grin )

Here is a link to the Toronto EMS website, take a look and see how we do it up here in Canada's largest city with a population of 4 million people, and 1,300 emergency medical calls per day.

Question: Can someone critique this for me?

I forever search for intelligence regarding new information on forklifts. Here is an important question that we anticipate you would find informative.

Question by Jake (AKA Captain Crash): Can someone critique this for me?
This is my writing exercise today- just an intense, short paragraph that doesn't really have much context besides what it provides itself. It's supposed to be a fast, action-packed part of a longer story. I just want someone to give me a few pointers.

Phil stood with his back against the wall, nervously holding the .22 and staring towards the opposite side of the dusty motel room. He knew that it would all end in just a few moments, and he was fine with that. No life at all would be better than a life in hiding. He had been on the run for two years. Ever since the infection. He had always figured that he would get eaten alive by one of the zombies. Nope. He wasn't even that lucky. He was about to get gored by a forklift. It revved again, louder this time. There wasn't much he could do at that point. He was down to his last two bullets. A light suddenly shined through the dirty window, and he could hear the tires of the forklift spinning on the pavement of the parking lot. It didn't have to go too fast. It's sheer weight would bring the already crumbling wall down. Locking the door at all was just a joke. That door wouldn't keep anything out. Not even the wind. It was hot and dry against his back, blowing through the holes in his shirt where he got hung up on the fence earlier. Then he saw it- not a window, but a small hole in the back wall towards the ceiling. One of those mounting holes for an air conditioner. He stepped up onto the small desk below it and squirmed out through it just as the other wall disintegrated and the forklift plowed through. As he toppled out onto the grass, he heard Luke's AK-47 firing into the empty room.

He was home free. Or so he thought. He picked himself up off the grass, preparing to run off- put as much distance between Luke and himself as possible- but instead of freedom in front of him, there were zombies. Lots of zombies.

Eh. Well.

It doesn't really do much for me. It's not terribly written. Just very bland, not at all interesting, and pretty typical. In short, there's just nothing special about it. There's also a lot of extraneous material that could be excised . . . this is definitely a case of overwriting. And even though it's only a paragraph, and not part of a larger work, you could do a lot more with that large amount of words than you actually did.

English question?

We regularly strive info regarding new information on lift trucks. Here is an important question that I anticipate you would find compelling.

Question by Tanaka: English question?
These are to be used in a factory.

1. No stepping on the white lines.
2. No dragging boxes over the white lines.
3. No tracking up the white lines with forklifts.

In particular I'm not sure if 3 sounds right.
It's supposed to mean you cannot leave marks on the lines with forklift tires.
Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Question: 1st time boat purchaser - new boat or "gently used" boat w/ warranty?"?

I continuously strive intelligence regarding new information on forklift. Here is an important question that I anticipate you would find thought-provoking.

Question by Alan H: 1st time boat purchaser - new boat or "gently used" boat w/ warranty?"?
I've heard two lines of thought when it comes to 1st time boat purchasers - whether to buy a brand new boat (from a dealer) or whether to buy a late model used boat w/ a transferrable warranty (from a private party).

The reasoning behind a brand new boat is of course, peace of mind. I'm going into this hobby at 38 yrs old and I have no misconceptions that this can be an extremely expensive hobby.

My budget is around $ 18,000 (for lic., ins., dealer fees [if applicable], and misc. other fees).

Also, I am familiar with Bayliner and Searay, and most recently, Four Winns (these are nice boats!). We are a familiy of 5; with my sister and her kids (we each have 3 - all of them are now at the watersports age) a mile away. I've done exhaustive technical research but I've not done any of the most important research - the public.

What is good first boat? I'm looking for a bowrider, i/o (about 175 hp), 18' or bigger.

Thanks to all in advance.

Question: Which is better? Alt-Azimuth mount or Equatorial mount?

We constantly hunt for intelligence regarding new information on lift trucks. Here is an important question that we anticipate you would find intriguing.

Question by Talal: Which is better? Alt-Azimuth mount or Equatorial mount?

Best answer:

Answer by mathematician
It depends on what you want to do. If you want to take pictures, an equatorial mount if crucial. On the other hand, an alt-az in the form of a dobsonian mount allows larger telescopes, so more will be seen visually. The simplicity of alt-az mounts is usually better for beginners. But an equatorial mount allows a simpler methood of keeping an object in view.

Toddler just started saying swear words what do i do?

We perpetually work news regarding new information on fork trucks. Here is an important question that I thought you would find entertaining.

Question by angelle: Toddler just started saying swear words what do i do?
My almost 2 year old daughter is learning how to talk, she knows alot of words and can understand what we say to her and respond quite well...however sometimes when she says something it comes out as something different which i know is normal. A few days ago I had thought that I heard her say a swear word, but I wasn't sure as like i said sometimes words come out and they sound different, so i let it go...then that same day I heard her clearly say something that I know was a swear word. We don't swear around her and we don't watch or listen to anything that has swear words because we know kids pick it up like nothing, so I have no idea how she started saying it. I'm worried because I don't want her to be one of those kids that swear what can I do? I havent made a big deal cause i know if you do they tend to want to say it more, but I can't just ignore it. I have tried to replace it with a similar sounding word so that she just says that but that doesn't seem to be working, what can i do?

Best answer:

Answer by DenJansen
You're on the right track. Don't make a big deal of it. If she can understand what you're saying, then tell her, straightforward "We don't use that word, say 'shoot' instead. Or 'darnit'," something like that. If she doesn't figure it out, I wouldn't worry too much: in a few more months, she'll understand what's okay and what's not.
