The MHEDA Edge Highlights Osha Industrial Truck Regulations

In the industrial truck segment, OSHA regulations are constantly changing. The MHEDA Edge, as part of its continued effort to keep young material handling professionals up to date with the latest industry rules and regulations, is highlighting OSHA forklift regulations in it's March issue.

The article, entitled "How To: Help Your Customer Meet OSHA Requirements For Industrial Trucks" is written by Sunbelt Industrial Trucks Customer Service Representative Bruce Dickey. Dickey closely analyzes the specifics of the regulations. One specific clause he goes into is the OSHA requirement for pre-shift inspections of lift trucks. This is a particularly vague regulation. Dickey explains, "Exactly what components of their forklift trucks are customers supposed to tell their operators to examine? This seems clear enough to those of us in the forklift business, but how clear is this to the average, possibly non-technically inclined, customer? If customers seek clarification in the OSHA regulations, they may find that this resource is not much help."

Dickey then goes a step further by explaining how a distributor can leverage this customer confusion to further establish their value. "This creates an opportunity for dealers to become their customer's resource. One inexpensive way to help is to simply resurrect or regenerate the daily inspection forms most of us have offered our customers for many years." This simple act will help out your customer and further cement you as a valuable partner in their eyes.

Take The Following Three Steps To Pick Right Robur And Coolie Lift Trucks

The cost of end products depends on the cost of their manufacturing. And, manufacturing costs depend on the cost of raw materials. The manufacturing industry is under the process to curb the total overhead costs in order to keep the prices of their end products in check.  The use of various material handling equipments is integral to the overall operation procedure in a manufacturing unit. Manufacturing plan owners take steps cautiously when it comes to investing on the purchase of robur lift trucks. Take note that proper handling of lift trucks contributes to reducing costs.

Take a meticulous look at the lift truck fleet. It will help you check if the right lift trucks are being used in your plant. Three steps are there for manufacturing plant professionals to confirm the right application of coolie lift trucks.  Observing the lift truck fleet in action, assessing cost and consulting a lift truck professional are the three steps.

Set in the process by having a close watch on the functions of the lift trucks in your plant. Product designers design lift trucks with some specific tasks in mind. Some robur lift trucks are highly competent to perform several functions with equal efficiency. The function of most of the trucks is limited to two tasks – order picking and horizontal transport. For example, transportation of loaded pallets from one spot to another is meant to be the function of pallet lift trucks.

Replace the present lift trucks with coolie lift trucks if they take a lot of time in horizontal transport. If working with reach trucks in the dock area is not comfortable experience, replace them with pallet trucks. Robur lift trucks are more economical than other lift truck types in terms of purchase price as well as maintenance cost. Using a particular lift truck for a particular material handling application will reduce a chunk of the total manufacturing costs.

Turning a blind eye to the maintenance cost of lift trucks is a great mistake. Make a rough calculation of the costs for lifetime maintenance of coolie lift trucks. Calculate a monthly average out of the total maintenance cost. If you are on the way to purchase new lift trucks, ransack the market to choose newer advanced trucks. High-end models not only offer extended battery life but also add to productivity. Advice of a lift truck professional would be helpful guidance regarding the purchase of new robur lift trucks.
